팀명도 TSM Snapdragon 으로 바뀜

new Forbes report states that Team SoloMid has added a new suffix to their name, becoming “Team SoloMid Snapdragon” due to a new sponsorship from Qualcomm Incorporated. The sponsorship also includes a partnership with CBS Interactive, which looks to bring the team more exposure in a big way.

The team will also be taking part in a weekly webseries called “Gamecrib”, which will be launching on February 20 and will run through June 14th. This series will be streamed on GameSpot.com and Twitch.tv, and will show the team in their gaming house in San Francisco.

In the article, CBS Interactive’s David Rice explains some of the reasoning for this new show, and why they chose to create it.

Gamers are drawn to not only the actual game play but the culture and experience that surrounds gaming.  We have already seen the emergence of eSports competitions as a major online streaming phenomenon – and what has evolved is a huge fan base around teams, individuals and programming that gets the audience to more deeply know the top games and see them in new situations.

The response to the news has been mixed, as some parties see the entrance of bigger sponsors as a good thing, but the introduction of reality-style programming to require careful handling. As Season 3 starts teams will have a lot of competition to think about, both from domestic and foreign teams. Throwing another layer of chaos into their lives may make for great entertainment, but it remains to be seen whether this will negatively affect TSM Snapdragon’s play.
